WiSE will host a WiSE Up event on Thursday October 29th at The Midnight in downtown Gainesville.

The topic for this month’s discussion; a letter to the editor written by Jared Mauldin from Eastern Washington University.  His words on the unfair conditions his women peers have to face in engineering is going viral, and it’s easy to see why. However, not all of the responses have been supportive: it seems that the opinions on the subject of women in sciences are as varied as scientists themselves.

Join your favorite WiSE folks for some food and discussion on this open letter and all the reactions it has earthed up! Weather you plan to come to the even or not, we’ve also set up a poll to find out what you think about the statements made in this letter. Please fill out our short survey found here. Results may be compiled and shared as a blog post on our website.

To RSVP and get the latest updates, please join the Facebook event.

WiSE Up events are casual, respectful and fun discussions on a timely topic or event. WiSE is a safe space for people of all genders and all levels of their careers. New members welcome — bring a friend!
