General Body Meeting #5

WiSE is happy to announce our February speaker for the STEM Careers Seminar Series – Erin Winnick!

Erin is a maker, engineer, writer, entrepreneur, designer, and science communicator. She is a fellow gator, and graduated from the University of Florida with her degree in mechanical engineering in December 2016!

Erin is currently working as the Associate Editor for the Future of Work for the MIT Technology Review. She is pitching story ideas and writing for the print and online science and technology section, as well as on STEM topics for other sections. She previously interned as the Richard Casement Intern for The Economist, writing weekly articles on science and technology and appeareing on the weekly Economist science podcast, Babbage, to discuss new innovations in the scientific fields. Erin has also interned at John Deere, Solar Turbines, Keysight Technologies, and Bracken Engineering.

Erin is also the CEO of Sci Chic, a company she founded in October 2015 which creates 3D printed jewelry that is inspired by science and engineering concepts! She is the winner of the 2016 national #CampusPitch Competition for her work with Sci Chic. She uses this as a tool to teach about science and technology and spark conversations about science.
